Can the gear warning be tested when NOT in flight (i.e. glider in the cradle)?

From the menu stack, info / sensors screen.  Scroll down to find switch inputs.  These will indicate N0 when open, N1 when closed.

I use spoilers on takeoff.  When the alarm goes off just hit the go button.  Alarm is silenced.  You don't even have to turn it back on.  when you close the spoilers it resets itself.
