Title: Clock jump found in the recordings (OLC)
Post by: ghyelde on May 25, 2020, 03:22:27 PM
while i think i have seen references to this.......... OLC is returning the message "Clock Jump found in the recordings.  Flight shortened." This started in my CN2 maybe 3-4 flights ago.  i shifted to the CnVario files for a few flights with no problems and yesterday (05.23.2020) had this problem with that file.  any suggestions?

Turn the instruments on at least five minutes before launch.  This should provide enough time for the GPS to acquire and apply the GPS to UTC time offset before you begin your flight.

The other thing you can do is d/l your flight at 4s interval instead of 1s.  This should mask the time jump as far as OLC is concerned.  This is only an OLC problem... your files are still valid for records, contests, etc.  You can (probably) fix your existing OLC flight if you do this soon.

thanks.  1.  the clearnav goes on as part of my preparation to fly.  well over the 5 minutes.  2.  i will log at 4 second intervals.  3.  my nano4 backup logged at 1 second intervals and did not have a problem.  guess its a different gps.

fwiw, I just got bit by the clock jump thing today.  First time.  I powered things up less than five minutes before launch, which is unusual for me.

This is total silliness on the part of OLC.

i set my logging on the clearnav to 4 seconds, and the same problem occurred today.  i will download my clearnav vario file as well tomorrow.  now, a nano4 that i use as a backup works just
fine ??  a fellow pilot is having similar problems with an older oudie.

I' m struggeling with the same problem. As I've seen in an another forum pilots are facing the same problem with a LX 8000 on board. LX gave them the hint that the internal battery for the GPS has to be renewed.
Might that be a solution for the CNv?

Have you tried d/l'ing your flight with a 4s or 8s fix interval?  This should mask the problem as far as OLC is concerrned.

The other thing that works (what I do) is powering up your panel ten minutes before launch.

Hi Evan, thanks a lot for your help. Yes, I tried it with both solution. A logger interval of 4s and also with powering on 15 minutes before taking off. At my last flight the powering on was less than 3 minutes and the problem exists once again. Therefore, the "early" switch-on is the best solution at the moment that seems to work.  :'(
