Title: Blue Circle for Mode C/S Fills Screen?
Post by: Pappa3 on June 14, 2020, 06:45:01 PM
I've seen a number of posts indicating that Flarm can be saturated in a high density setting (e.g. contest) by mode C/S traffic.  But I've started seeing a different issue.  When I'm out flying with just one or two other gliders,   their Blue Ring is being painted repeatedly until essentially it creates an opaque blue blob that blocks all of the near-in features (terrain,  airports, etc.).   The only way I've found to get rid of it is to power-cycle the ClearNav.

I know the "solution" is to turn off Mode C/S traffic alerts in Flarm,  but for non-contest flying it's kind of nice to get a warning when a Mode C/S aircraft gets within my alert range.

Any ideas on this one?

No ideas here.  Sounds like a bug in CN software.  My current flarm gizmo doesn't support mode C, so I'm no help at all on this one...

If you have a second flarm display, what I would recommend is disabling the mode c output to CN2, leave it on for the other.
