Entering a New Task faster
« on: July 29, 2016, 06:27:29 PM »
Under the CNv FEATURES I find the following text:

ClearNav Integration
If the vario is connected to a ClearNav display, MC, bugs, and ballast values are synchronized and tasks created using the ClearNav display may be copied to the vario. Copying a task to the vario gives the pilot a completely independent navigation and task management option as a backup.

A year ago, I made such a request for a new feature and got excited to see this promise.  However, I have not been able to find instructions on just how to do it.  Could someone post the link to the instructions on how to copy the task generated in CNII to the CNv xc  version?

It's still on the todo list.  But I am assured that it is next up for CNII.

Good news Evan.  It will make life much easier when the CD changes the tasks at the last minute.

As we approach the second anniversary of this post, could you update us on this feature?

I, too, have seen the promise to do this. It really would be helpful. Please implement this feature.

I'm sorry -- I have no updates.

I did get to provide some input on development priorities... a couple of months ago... and as far as I know development work is proceeding.  But I don't know anything about priorities and scheduling.

Task, declaration and waypoint database transfer  from CN2 to CNv was high on my list.

Thanks, Evan. I know Rex also said it was "high on the list", but it has been a while.

OK, so here we are, nearly done with 2018. No new developments in this request. This is something really useful, not a "bell and whistle".

Thanks Evan for being a intermediary.

If the task cannot be copied from CN2 or CND to CNv, the action "copy" in the CNv task (start and finish points, for example) and rapidly scrolling through the waypoint list by holding the up or down button would be quite useful.
My last declared task took a while to build:
Wind Farm S/F
Paradise Peak
Wind Farm S/F
...in an 1100 point database.

I feel your pain.

I presume you are using cup files, else it's easy to segregate turnpoints from everything else.

It's helpful to know that CNv loads tasks associated with cup files (I stumbled across this by accident, it's not documented).  The current limit is 10 tasks.

You can speed the task creation process by prepending turnpoints you are most likely to use with "00", which puts all those waypoints at the top of the list in an alphabetic sort.  This works great in CNv... less so in CN2, which has always been a little buggy with cup files.

No, STX.
In the past I've had trouble loading CUP files in CNv, even without tasks. All waypoints were not always loaded, had to read the results and try again.
This may have been fixed in more recent CNv updates, but ended up using the same STX file as the CN2.
In my databases, every waypoint is a turnpoint. Added that function so it's easier to make FAI triangles.
With the CN2, the database is easily scrolled through. The same start and finish point can be entered quickly, then insert the turnpoints. The cursor remains where you left it, not back at the top.

This can be done, but there are some "if's"..
If you have a Oudie connected to CNv, and the Oudie is connected via Oudie live (Android phone), one can download the task from SoaringSpot, and send the task directly to CNv.

One can of course also just set / change the task on the Oudie manually, then upload to CNv.
