Lithium Phosphate Battery Thread
« on: November 04, 2012, 05:40:34 PM »
I'm watching developments with interest here.

There are a lot of guys in the US already using the K2 9.6 AH battery with "BMS" (battery management system) which it is claimed protects against undercharge, overcharge and provides cell balancing.  It's about $180 (USD), seems to work great.  Available from several sources (google).  You can even buy one at Amazon http://tinyurl.com/bysghlf

Today, I happened upon this 12 AH battery from Tenergy  http://tinyurl.com/d4vqvoc.  It's interesting to me because I only have one really good place for a battery in my ASW-20 and 9.6 AH is a little light.  This battery appears to include circuitry to protect against under & over charge conditions, but there's no mention of cell balancing.

Edit 11/6/12 -- here's another 12 AH option at a better price.  http://tinyurl.com/am662kb

Edit 11/8/12 -- Jim David sent me this link for a 15 AH batttery http://tinyurl.com/ary5y7q

Edit 2/24/13 -- Here's another 12 AH battery http://www.bioennopower.com/?page_id=2433

Go for it!
Comparing SLA to LiFePO4 battery technology is like the difference between constant flow and pulse demand O2 systems.
