No boot on USB port
« on: September 19, 2020, 02:11:28 AM »
Hello,
we've quite a complete CNVII installation, including both CNV & variometer.
I'd try to update airspaces, using the USB stick procedure.
I used a formatted stick, with the file tree and exe files, downloaded from ClearNav site.

The device never booted on the stick.

I tried with Fat 32 and NFTS USB sticks... no way.

Our installation shows a "2 boxes" organisation :
- CNVII associated to the front screen,
- an additional device (same format) is coupled at the rear,
- the front port for USB is linked with the rear box.

Can you help me solving that issue ?

Thank you very much

Marc

The CN vario (actually ADC) does not use a folder structure like the ClearNav II moving map.  The CNv updater and desired files must reside in the top level of the USB device.  It is recommended to use one USB stick for updating CNII with the proper folder structure and a separate one for the CNv ADC.

The USB drive needs to be FAT32.  I've had good luck with SanDisk Cruzer USB drives in CN2.  Some other (mostly unbranded) USB drives simply will not work.

If that doesn't work, it's likely time to call Williams Soaring.
